Geraldine Feeney’s Euro pitch to the Fianna Fáil faithful (video)

Former Fianna Fáil senator Geraldine Feeney has declared her intention to seek the nomination to run for Fianna Fáil in the upcoming European elections for the Dublin constituency. Originally from Tullamore, Geraldine counts former Taoiseach Brian Cowen  as a close friend and was a member of Seanad Éireann from 2002 to 2011.

Geraldine hasn’t a hope of winning the nomination of course. She was a loyal Cowenite and the current Fianna Fáil leader is trying to put as much distance as possible between now and then.

Geraldine is facing stiff competition from Tiernan Brady, a former councillor from Donegal and a senior official with the Gay and Lesbian Equality Network. Mary Hanifin and Averil Power are also said to be interested in seeking the nomination. Mary Hanifin is unlikely to get the nomination because she has three pensions and even the dimmest of strategists know that’s the kind of thing that will come back and bite you on the arse in the ballot box during these straightened times.

Geraldine’s video is unusual, because it is marginally better than the gruel you will encounter in the upcoming months from local and european candidates, it checks all the right boxes for the Fianna Fáil faithful.
