The Facebook message that led Gardai to remove the blonde haired child from the Roma family in Dublin.

Gardai have removed a seven-year old blonde girl from a Roma family in living in Tallaght, just days after Greek authorities charged a Roma couple with abducting a blonde girl found in their care who wasn’t their daughter. Similarities have been drawn between the two cases.

Gardai in Tallaght said they received a phone call from a concerned member of the public. In fact, Paul Connolly an investigative journalist working for TV3 Ireland, received the tip-off via his  Facebook page from a woman who claimed the Roma were stealing children for child benefit. Connolly immediately contacted the Gardai child protection unit.

One has to wonder – why did the woman only wait to report this now? and why to a journalist and not Gardai ? And we’re all ok with Gardai removing a child from her family because of a racist Facebook message to a journalist…….
